Dental Crowns in Fremont, California

Durable, comfortable and
well-fitting crowns

Dr. Sablan provides crowns that are long-lasting and will fit perfectly to your teeth and bite. Her goal is to make it so you never even realize you have the crown because it fits so well with the rest of your natural teeth.

What are Crowns?

Crowns are a type of dental restoration which, when cemented into place, fully cover the portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. Dental crowns encase the entire visible aspect of a tooth, and so become the new outer surface.

Crowns can be made out of porcelain (meaning some sort of dental ceramic), metal (a gold or other metal alloy), or a combination of both.

Traditional porcelain crowns are made with porcelain covering a metal shell. The metal provides strength and support for the porcelain which gives it a natural appearance. All-porcelain, also called "all-ceramic" crowns, use a ceramic shell instead of a metal shell to support the porcelain.

“Dr. Sablan did a very nice job on my front teeth that had eroded badly. Considering the magnitude of the job, Dr. Sablan performed the procedure with a minimal amount of discomfort. Furthermore, her pricing for the procedure was more than reasonable. Dr. Sablan does highly professional work, and her office and staff are very proficient. I highly recommend Dr. Sablan for your dental needs.” - N.J.

Before & After

Dental Crowns - Before and After

This patient's front teeth were very worn, and he was concerned about losing them completely.
After crowns were placed on them, his teeth are no longer sensitive and he feels confident
that he will keep his teeth for a lifetime.

When would I need a crown?

You may need a crown because of:

  • Extensive tooth decay
  • Large metal or tooth-colored fillings that weaken the remaining tooth
  • Broken or cracked teeth
  • A tooth that has had root canal therapy
  • A misaligned or misshaped tooth
  • Teeth that have large fillings that are breaking down and cannot be refilled

Sometimes a crown is not the optimum solution and other dental procedures such as porcelain veneers are more appropriate.
